Jammu and Kashmir government today sought additional ration for the state for implementation of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Food Entitlement Scheme (MMSFES).
State Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Zulfkar Ali met Union Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan here and urged him to consider the demand for additional quota of ration on APL rates for implementation of MMSFES, an official spokesman said.
He also requested the Minister to look into the long pending demand for increase in the state's kerosene oil quota.
Zulfkar discussed the issue of extending benefits of funding to J&K under end-to-end computerisation of PDS operations under e-PDS on the pattern of North Eastern states.
He asked for central assistance for modernisation of godowns and remodelling and reconstruction of old ones.
The Minister asked for immediate Central assistance for compensating for the loss due to damage to laboratories, equipment, buildings, and enforcement vehicles in the devastating 2014 flood.
Zulfkar sought financial assistance from the Centre to establish a state consumer helpline, Consumer Welfare Fund, funds for testing of products, setting up of retail price monitoring cell (RPMC), and infrastructure development for District Consumer Fora.
The Union Minister assured the CAPD Minister that necessary measures would be initiated for modernisation of the department in the state.
