"Some of the URLs have already been blocked but few are still accessible on the Internet," official sources said.

The Home Department has sent a reminder to the Cyber Law Division for blocking the URLs carrying the video that has led to widespread protests across the world, including the Kashmir Valley, the sources said.

While the situation has remained peaceful and under control in the Valley so far, it could deteriorate if quick action is not taken by the Union IT Ministry on the state government's request, they said.

"Barring stray incidents of violence, protests against the anti-Islam video have remained peaceful so far but the vested interests can exploit the prevailing sentiment by giving the protests a different hue," the sources added.

The state government yesterday condemned the anti-Islam video during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

The state cabinet yesterday termed the video as "an attempt to hurt the sentiments of people and disturb international peace".
