J&K to employ over one lakh youth in next two years

The positions will be filled through various recruiting agencies, which will help large number of unemployed educated youth

With over six lakh educated unemployed youth in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir government has said over one lakh posts would be filled during the next two years.

"During the next 24 months more than 100,000 posts shall be filled through various recruiting agencies, thus providing employment to a large number of unemployed educated youth in the Government sector," an official said after a high level meeting here.

The meeting, chaired by Secretary General Administration Department Mohammad Ashraf Bukhari, took a review of the vacant posts in various Government departments and the recruitment process in progress at present.

"During the discussing, it was pointed out that more than 26000 vacancies have been referred to the Services Selection Board. Besides, over 14,000 Class-IV vacancies have also been referred to various Recruitment Agencies.

"Over 7500 posts at the non-gazetted and Class-IV level in the Police department are also being filled up by the Police Recruitment Boards," the official said.

He said the departments have also referred over 2700 posts to the Public Service Commission to be filled up through direct recruitment for which the selection process is at various stages.

Posts under Combined Competitive Examination are also being filled up on regular basis and in this regard 51 posts have been referred to the Public Service Commission during 2014, the official spokesman said.
