Replying to the supplementaries to the main question by Mubarak Gul in Assembly here today, Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said the government would launch a crop insurance scheme for the benefit of the farmers in the state.
The Minister said the survey report of damaged crops due to rains and recent floods in the State have been formulated by the department. He said once the funds in this regard are received, relief would be provided to the affected farmers.
Lone said that several state and central schemes are in vogue to provide high yield seeds, quality fertiliser besides farming tools and machinery as well as to generate awareness about latest techniques of agriculture cultivation to the farmers of the state.
The Agriculture Minister said that incentives on various inputs like seeds, agriculture implements/tools, irrigation infrastructure and other agriculture machinery is being provided to the farmers to boost the agriculture produce.

He said protected cultivation has also been encouraged in the constituency to get off season vegetables by way of providing polygreen houses to the farmers.
Giving details, the Minister said that 36 polygreen houses, 48 motorized carts, 11 handcarts, 19 foot sprayers, 06 tool kits, 29 I.P. Sets, 02 power sprayers and 38 knapsack sprayers have been provided on subsidized rates to the farmers of Eidgah constituency during last and current fiscal so far.
He said exposure visits of farmers outside the State have also been conducted to acquaint them with modern technology being adopted in different parts of the country.
Legislators, Ch. Sham Lal, Gagan Bhagat, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabar, Abdul Majid Bhat, Altaf Ahmed Wani and M. Y. Tarigami raised supplementaries to the main question.
