A decision into this effect was taken yesterday during a review meeting headed by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar, an official spokesperson said.

The amendments will include changes in state's Ranbir Penal Code, besides procedural laws like Criminal Procedure Code and Evidence Act, he said, adding that a final draft of the Bill will be prepared shortly for being placed before the Cabinet.

The changes will deal with various stages including investigation, prosecution and trial, he said.

The department will also take advise of experts on the subject to make the amendments more comprehensive and effective, the spokesperson said.

Necessary initiatives will be taken to ensure fast-track investigation and trial in cases of rape, he said.
