J-K govt under PMAY to prepare fresh list of homeless people
Press Trust of India Jammu The Jammu and Kashmir government would prepare a fresh list of homeless people in the state, Rural Development Minister Abdul Haq Khan said today. The list is being prepared under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana's Housing for All Scheme to provide houses to all by 2022. A fresh list of people who do not own a house will be prepared so that their case can be recommended to the central government for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) - Housing for All Scheme, he said after laying foundation stones of houses to be constructed under PMAY in Samba district. PMAY, Housing for All by 2022, was launched by the government in June 2015 to promote affordable housing for people from the economically weaker sections. The rural development department has been assigned a target of 7,000 houses and construction of these would be completed by the end of March, the minister said. Khan directed officers of the department to inform gram sabhas immediately and prepare a list of genuine and deserving families. The minister also directed officials to finalise the list within 15 days after gram sabhas submit their lists.
