Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra, on an official visit to Leh, today met the Dalai Lama who during the interaction stressed the importance of debate and discussion to reconcile opposing viewpoints.
"Before commencing his official engagements after arrival at Leh this morning, the Governor called on the Dalai Lama at his residence in Jive-tsal Choglamsar," an official spokesman said.
He said the Governor was accompanied by his advisors, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary Planning.
"During his interaction with the Governor, and speaking about the growing tensions across the world, the Dalai Lama, stressed the importance of debate and discussion to reconcile opposing viewpoints and study of philosophical texts to cultivate an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for all religions. He prayed for peace and prosperity in the world," the spokesman said.
