J&K health minister meets border firing injured in hospital

Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat today visited Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital here toenquire about the health of the persons seriously injured in cross border firing.
The minister visited emergency, disaster, orthopedic, surgery and other units of the hospital and assessed the medicare being provided to the patients, an official spokesman said.
He interacted with the patients and enquired about the treatment facilities being provided to them at the hospital.
Eight civilians were killed and over 20 were injured, of which 15 were seriously wounded including 14-month-old girl Pari who was shifted to GMC late last night, in the cross border firing yesterday.
The minister informed that a control room has been established in the CMO office in the GMCbesides 58 ambulances have also been pressed into service to cater to the requirement of people of affected border areas from Kathua to Poonch.
Also, round-the-clock healthcare services are being ensured by the District and Sub-District hospitals as well as primary healthcare centres.
Earlier, the minister chaired a meeting of GMC hospital administration to review the overall functioning of the hospital besides taking stock of emergency services.
