J-K: Land records of 2,416 villages digitised

The land records of 2,416 villages of Jammu and Kashmir have been digitised.
The information was given to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during a high-level meeting here today to review the status of settlement and computerisation of land records.
It was stated that settlement operations are presently on in 4,525 villages of 40 tehsils of the state. Out of which, measurement of land records of 2416 villages has been completed besides preparation of Record of Rights deposited in 1,836 villages.
The meeting was told that the software engineer of the settlement organisation has created latest software for the measurement of land and settlement operations which is first of its kind and serving as a most important tool to shorten the process of land measuring and record building.
The Chief Minister while underscoring the importance of computerisation of land records said the stupendous task will help to ensure proper maintenance and preservation of land records in a digitalisation mode.
He said it will also make the access to land records easy for the people besides removing red-tap.
The Chief Minister directed the agency concerned to accelerate the pace of settlement process and said that every care should be made while preparing the land records.
