Speaking at a meeting held to review the functioning of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today, the minister said that the enforcement wing should send a strong message across the board about the commitment of government to check unplanned expansion of the city.
Taking a strong exception to the laxity being shown by JMC in implementation of ban on polythene bags, Jora said that a sustained campaign should be launched to check sale and use of polythene bags. He said that the state should be made polythene free as polythene is a serious environmental hazard.
The minister was informed during the meeting that for expeditious disposal of cases, applications of the citizens seeking building permission etc from the Municipal Corporation, the JMC has established single window clearances system.
The website generated by the JMC can be accessed by the applicant to know the status of his application without personally visiting the corporation office.
