"We strongly advocate for opening of Kargil-Skardu road on pattern of Poonch-Chakan-da-Bagh and Uri-Muzaffarabad roads for trade and bilateral relations between the (people living in) two sides," Minister for Consumers Affairs & Public Distribution and Transport Qamar Ali Akhoon said here today.
Interacting with a delegation of members of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, Akhoon said people on both sides want revival of trade and cultural relations to usher in an era of peace, development and prosperity in the region.
He said revival of peoples' movement across Kargil-Skardu road will bring economic prosperity in Kargil and Leh districts by giving a boost to trade.
Akhoon said members of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly should pass a resolution in their legislature to impress upon the Pakistan government for removing the restrictions.
He also appealed to the governments of both India and Pakistan to take the ongoing process of dialogue and reconciliation to its logical end.
