Following allegations of discrimination in the distribution of earthquake relief materials in the region, the ruling National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir today warned officials against practising any biasness on the basis of the political affiliation of the victims.
"No wrong doing will be tolerated and that giving relief on the basis of political affiliation of the sufferers will land the officers responsible in trouble," said additional general secretary of the National Conference(NC), Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal while addressing roadside meetings at several areas of the Doda district today.
This statement comes in the wake of protests in the Bhaderwah belt over alleged discriminatory attitude of the officials in the distribution of relief materials to the quake victims.
Kamaal asked the district administration to ensure that the relief material is given in a fair and transparent manner and speedily.
He said that so far Indian Red Cross and J&K Bank have committed to provide one thousand tents each, security forces have committed to give around five hundred tents.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced to provide Rs 25 crore and free ration for three months for the victims, the NC leader added.
Flanked by Provincial President of Jammu region Devender Singh Rana, Kamaal laid stress on patience and a need for a concerted effort by all in reaching out to people in distress in this moment of need.
