J-K panel focuses on measures to improve G B Pant Hospital

"Various constructive steps have been taken and further concrete measures are necessary to be initiated for providing better medical and health care facilities to the infants," a committee on Estimates of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly said.

Led by its chairman Choudhary Mohammad Ramzaan, the committee conducted a visit to the hospital at Sonawar area of the city yesterday and took stock of the measures taken by the administration for providing better health care facilities to the patients, an official spokesman said today.

During their visit, the Committee sought comprehensive details from the hospital administration and visited various blocks of hospital including Neonatal wards, Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU), X-Ray, MRI and CT Scan, the spokesman said.

Various steps have been taken by the hospital administration like installation of six Bubble CPAP ventilator system, 17 Vital Sign Monitors, three Maquet Ventilators, 20 Radiant Warmers and various other medical facilities, he said.

The spokesperson said that the Committee was informed that under the National Rural Health Mission implementation of 'Janani Sheshu Surakhsha Karekram(JSSK)' scheme, medicines, drugs, diet and transport is being provided free of cost to all neonates falling under the age of 0-30 days, and free diet is given to the mothers of neonates admitted.

He said the Hospital administration has put forth various suggestions to the visiting committee members for the further improvement of the hospital and demanded for creation of Biomedical Engineering Cell, Multi Slice CT Scan Machine and computerised Radiography System, and new X-Ray plant.

The spokesman said the Committee visited the newly 30-bed Gynecologist ward which has recently been established in order to ease the rush of the patients in the other hospitals.
