J-K police team to visit Mumbai to probe youth's death

Jammu and Kashmir police today said it will send a team to Mumbai to investigate the death of a Kashmiri youth that has led to widespread protests in the state.
"J-K police is deputing an additional superintendent of police along with another officer to verify the case of death of one Pervez Ahmad Teli in Mumbai," a police spokesman said today. The deceased youth hailed from the Qalamdanpora-Nawab Bazaar area of Srinagar.
As soon as news of Teli's death reached here yesterday, violent protests were reported from many parts of the city, including at Nawab Bazaar and Nowhatta.
J-K police said they have been told by their Mumbai counterparts that an injured Teli had been taken to a local doctor in Borivalli on July 6.
The youth who was found in an injured condition on railway tracks near Elphinstone Station was later taken to KEM hospital where he was declared dead on July 9.
