J-K: Rs 1.5 cr fine realised from traffic violators in 6 mnths

The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has realised a fine of Rs 1.5 crore from the violators during the last six months, an official said today.
Acting on the complaints from the public against commercial vehicles, especially matadors and mini buses, the traffic police launched special drives during which about 21,693 vehicles matadors and mini buses have been fined, a traffic police official said.
The vehicles booked included 26,229 motorcycles.
About 86,239 vehicles have been booked besides 1,600 vehicles have also been seized during the last six months, he said.
The traffic police has made strenuous efforts to curb the menace of traffic violation especially in visible offences, the official said.
Besides, awareness campaigns have been launched to educate the public about the traffic rules, especially among the school children, to check accidents, he added.
