J&K to organise state level shooting championship soon: IGP

"A state level shooting championship will be organised in Kathua district soon," Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Dilbagh Singh, who is also working president of J & K Rifle Association, said of the three-day meet.

Lauding the Indian shooters for making their presence felt in the international arena, Sports Minister, R S Chib stressed the need for hiring the best available coaches for promoting the sport in the state.

Chib expressed happiness over youngsters taking up the sport in a big way. "We will provide all assistance to promising sportsperson."

Spelling out the measures for boosting sporting activities in the state, especially games like shooting, the minister said that the the range at Nagrota will help the youngsters to exhibit their expertise.

"Physical education is equally important as academics for overall growth of students and needs to be encouraged vigorously," the minister maintained.
