Sunil Jaglan of 'selfie with daughter' fame) will soon launch an awareness campaign against the 'triple talaq' norm in the Muslim community.
He will start the campaign, 'Badlaon ki ore' (towards change), with a "national level" programme at his village Bibipur which will be attended by distinguished members of the Muslim community.
Informing this, Jaglan, a former sarpanch of Bibipur village, said, "Women empowerment must be uniform across the society. The women should enjoy equal rights in every community. The triple talaq system is a grave injustice to the Muslim women. A man can divorce his wife by uttering or writing 'talaq' thrice over phone or through e-mail."
He claimed that the norm was sanctioned by the Muslim Personal Law Board and it did not have any "legal validity".
Jaglan claimed that in 2012, he had succeeded in getting "all the khaps of north India" on the same dais to campaign against female infanticide and demand slapping of murder cases on those who indulged in it.
Recently, he has been made the national spokesperson of Akhil Bharatiya Pradhan Sangathan, an organisation involving over 30,000 village panchayats of Uttar Pradesh, Jaglan said, adding that 'Badlao ki ore' will be taken to the "national level" in association with it.
