"We appeal Chief Minister, J&K, Omar Abdullah for getting the uninterrupted power supplies restored to this migrant township immediately failing which the community shall be left with no other alternative but to come on roads for agitation," Jagti Tenement Committee President Shadi Lal Pandita said today.
He expressed grave concern over the prolonged power curtailment from 10:30 PM to 7:30 AM which has created insecurity amongst the residents of the migrant township.
In addition, power curtailments are also effected from 9 AM to 12 Noon and from 3 PM to 7:30 PM, he said, adding, such power cuts have adversely affected students in particular and the infirm.
JTC members have said the government would be responsible for any untoward in this township.
Pandita said for past more than five years no recruitment drive from Police Department had been undertaken in the migrant camps due to which educated youth were deprived.
He appealed to the government as well as Director General of Police, J&K, to undertake on-the-spot recruitment drive in Jagti Migrant camp for employment in police department to the educated unemployed migrant youth.
