Som, who represents Sarthana constituency, has been remanded in 14 days' judicial custody by a Muzaffarnagar court.
When he was brought to Orai district jail this morning, the jailor and other staff reportedly came to receive him at the gate.
While the jailor "welcomed" Som with folded hands, some other staff saluted the MLA, who also waved back to his supporters from inside the jail gate.
When contacted IG (Prison) R P Singh told PTI that the matter has come to his notice and it would be looked into.
