The 33-year-old "Mercy" actress will star as the female lead in the drama project.
"Dead People" follows a cab driver named Floyd, played by 'The Walking Dead's Andrew J West, who finds that he can communicate with ghosts after a near-death experience.
Kirchner will play Charly, a tough and gifted cop who doesn't suffer fools gladly, Deadline reported.
Ben and Kate star Echo Kellum also recently joined the pilot in the role of Doug, Floyd's best friend and an attorney.
The "Dead People" pilot will be written by Tom Kapinos ("Californication"), who also serves as executive producer.
