Jaishankar's visit paves way for next FS meeting: Aziz

Foreign Secretaries of India and Pakistan could meet again though there was no breakthrough during Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar's talks here, a top Pakistani official said today.
Advisor to Pakistan Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said that his country wants to resolve all outstanding issues with India, including Kashmir, through dialogue.
He was talking to media here, days after Jaishankar held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Chaudhry but the two sides failed to decide the resumption of peace talks.
Aziz said despite no breakthrough there was headway for the next meeting between two foreign secretaries.

He said Pakistan Foreign Secretary will visit India when his counterpart invites him for resumption of dialogue, Radio Pakistan reported.
Aziz said there is a need for comprehensive dialogue process between the two countries to remove lack of trust and address all outstanding issues.

Although the recent visit by Jaishnakar was in the context of SAARC countries, the two foreign secretaries also discussed all issues, including the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
To a question, he said SAARC Summit 2016 will be hosted by Pakistan and all SAARC leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Nirandera Modi, will be invited.

Aziz said both the civilian and military leadership are on the same page and cooperating with each other on all issues especially in war against terrorism.
In August, India had called-off foreign secretary-level talks at the eleventh hour after the Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi held consultations with Kashmiri separatists just before the meeting.
During the recent parleys, the two sides raised their "concerns" but there was little progress on the much-hoped resumption of peace talks.
