"You can't have two of India's role model IT centres cities Gurgaon and Bangalore facing the kind of situation which we have faced in the last 24 hours. After all these are representative of modern India globally," the Finance Minister said while delivering the first Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Memorial Lecture here.
He said the government is emphasing on large concentration of investment in infrastructure sector.
Long tailbacks were witnessed in gridlocked roads in Gurgaon last two days due to severe waterlogging on National Highway-8 after heavy rains lashed Delhi's satellite city, leaving thousands of commuters stranded and forcing authorities to clamp prohibitory orders.
Incessant heavy rain has also crippled normal life in several parts of the Bengaluru, leaving in its wake waterlogged roads, flooded houses and severe traffic jams.
