Jaitley to meet investors in Singapore, Hong Kong

Jaitley would attend meetings with prominent investors and fund managers in Singapore, including Temasek and GIC

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be in Singapore and Hong Kong on a four-day visit, beginning tomorrow, during which he will meet top leaders and investors from the two global financial centres.

In Singapore, Jaitley will give a talk on "India: A heaven of opportunity in globally challenging times" and meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and other leaders of the city nation, Finance Ministry said in a statement.

He would also be holding bilateral meetings with Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, and K Shanmugam, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore.

Jaitley would attend meetings with prominent investors and fund managers in Singapore, including Temasek and GIC, the Singapore-government owned wealth funds.

He will have talks with the Pension Funds regarding their participation in National Investment & Infrastructure Fund (NIIF), being promoted by the Indian government, it said.

Jaitley is scheduled to address a meeting of Singapore businesses, jointly organised by Indian High Commission and Ficci.

After staying for two days in Singapore, Jaitley will reach Hong Kong on September 20.

In Hong Kong, he will address the investors at the Capital Markets and Institutional Investors Summit on September 21.

The summit is being organised by the Asia Pacific Investors Cooperation (APIC).

The summit will present to select Asian institutional investors the developments in India's capital markets and investment opportunities, it said.

Jaitley will have meetings with Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Greater China Chamber of Commerce and fund managers in Hong Kong.

The Finance Minister would be meeting Chief Executive of Hong Kong on September 21 and will address an event organised by the Indian community in Hong Kong.

He will return on September 22.
