Madhya Pradesh government is organising the second "Jal-Mahotsava"- on Hanuwantiya island in the backwaters of Punasa Dam in Khandwa district from December 15.
Two house boats for visitors will be the special feature of this month-long tourist festival, a MP State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) official said, adding that online booking for the event has started on www.Jalmahotsav.Com.
Various events like water sports, island camping, adventure activities - hot air ballooning, para sailing, para motors, star gazing, water skiing, jet skiing, water Burma bridge, artificial climbing wall, bird watching, trekking, treasure hunt and night camping will be other added attractions.
More than 100 islands have come up in the backwaters of the Punasa dam, which is one of the biggest reservoirs in Asia.
The Island formation starts from Hanuwantiya, which is surrounded by backwaters of dam on river Narmada from three sides.
In February this year, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had also organised a cabinet meeting in a cruise boat at Hanuwantiya in a bid to promote water tourism at the site.
The first Jal-Mahotsava for 10 days was organised in February this year.
