The accused have been identified as Bhanwar Lal Mali, the Chairman of Municipal Council of Jalore and his middleman Devendra Acharya, the ACB spokesperson said.
Mali had demanded a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a contractor named Jitendra Mali to clear his pending bill amounting Rs 7.91 lakh against road construction. The dead was then settled at Rs 35,000, the spokesperson said.
After verification of the complaint, a trap was laid by ACB team today. The chairman asked the contractor to hand over decided amount to his middleman and the ACB team caught Acharya red-handed while accepting the bribe on behalf of the chairman, the spokesperson said.
