The first ever specially adapted watch that Sean Connery wore in 1965 James Bond movie 'Thunderball' has fetched more than USD 160,000 at Christie's auction.
The Breitling Top Time was the first watch to be modified by the famous Q Branch and is equipped with a 'Geiger counter' which in the film detects the emission of nuclear radiation.
Connery used the watch to find two NATO atomic bombs stolen by SPECTRE in 'Thunderball' where he is seen wearing it in several scenes including one underwater, according to Christie's.
The time piece was lost but was discovered at a car boot sale for 25 pounds.
Made by Breitling in 1962 it was adapted by the James Bond art department and was the only example produced for the movie.
The timepiece was bought at June 26 auction for almost double of what it was expected to fetch.
The pop culture sale also saw Elizabeth Taylor's first wedding dress being sold for more than three times what it was expected to fetch.
