The 58-year-old actress, who starred with Paxton in the action-comedy "True Lies", took to Twitter to express her condolences.
"Nooooo. Bill Paxton is gone. Such a funny, talented, loving human. Louise and the children and family my (heartfelt) support to you. #TrueLies," Curtis tweeted, along with a still featuring her and Paxton from their 1994 movie.
In an interview with People magazine, the actress said, "It's always unexpected when someone is young and not seemingly ill. It's just so terribly sad."
"I've been in communication with Jim Cameron today and Bill had - Bill had that rare ability to be a really serious kind of stupid person," said Curtis.
Paxton is survived by his two children, James and Lydia and wife of 30 years Louise Newbury.
