Four people were arrested and 40 animals rescued as the police foiled three bovine smuggling bids in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, an official said today.
A truck carrying cattle out of the district was intercepted in Chenani today, the official said.
Last night, two trucks, one in Chenani and the other in Majalta, were caught with the animals as they were being smuggled out of Udhampur, he added.
The accused have been identified as Sharafat Hussain, Mohammad Rafiq, Ghulam Mohammad and Sardar Mohammad.
The smugglers in Majalta managed to flee from the spot, the official said
