Jammu and Kashmir teenager makes Indian jr. Volleyball team

Hailing from Poonch border district of Jammu and Kashmir, 17-year old Saqlain Tariq has made his state proud by making it to the Indian junior volleyball team for the Asian Championship in September.
"My son Saqlain has got selected to junior Indian volleyball team. He was selected at a Sports Authority of India (SAI) trial camp at Gandhinagar in Gujarat from June 17-18," Saqlain's father Tariq Khan told PTI from Poonch today.
Khan, who is a physical education teacher in the state department of Youth Services and Sports, said "he was the only boy from Jammu and Kashmir to get selected among a total of 30 boys from all over India."
"Saqlain is currently undergoing coaching and practice in Gandhingar. He is a hard worker and one day he will make it to the senior Indian team," said the father.
"It is a proud moment for the state of Jammu and Kashmir that after cricketer Parvez Rasool represented India earlier in the month," President Poonch Civil Society for Art & Literature, Liaqat Jafri, said.
Jafri said "the boy comes from farflung area of Poonch which is an example that youth of J&K want to excel not only on the national level but also on the international level. So they need support of Central Government".
After receiving the news of Saqlain's inclusion in the team,t he happiness has spread in the whole of Poonch.
He won a bronze medal in the last year's Junior National Championship in Rajasthan.
