"The installation of 30 traffic lights for better regulation of the traffic in Jammu would be done by first week of July," said K L Khajuria, Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
15 traffic lights have been installed till now and work to install remaining ones is on at fast track.
The dead line for installing and making traffic lights functional at 30 prime locations in Jammu was June 18, however, company has demanded more time, he said.
Jammu Municipal Corporation is executing the project on behalf of traffic department.
Omax Company was given the project for installation of traffic lights under the supervision of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
State level contract committee in the Housing and Urban Development department is in consultation with traffic police and has identified 30 and 31 locations in Jammu and Srinagar cities respectively for installation of traffic signal lights.
These traffic signals will be supplied with adequate power and would operate round the clock.
