Activists of Jammu West Assembly Movement led by their president Sunil Dimple, carrying placards and banners with anti-China slogans, demonstrated against Li's visit to India and burnt an effigy of the Chinese Premier in the city.
"Days after China engineered an incursion in Ladakh sector of Jammu and Kashmir, India awarded a red carpet welcome to the Chinese Premier. This is unfortunate," Dimple told reporters here.
Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party had protested yesterday against the visit of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang to India, saying he should not have been invited days after China's incursion into Ladakh.
On April 15, Chinese troops intruded nearly 19 km in Daulat Beg Oldi sector in Ladakh, prompting Indian troops to erect tents in the region. The situation was finally resolved after three weeks.
