Chaired by the Secretary of BJP's state Committee, Pradeep Verma, who was appointed as Observe to conduct the election, the voting process started but then a group of people entered the venue and started breaking chairs kept for the party workers and leaders, those present said.
A scuffle ensued between the BJP workers and the group before they were driven away from the venue.

A senior police officer said adequate police force rushed to the spot to maintain law and order.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jacinta Kerketta said when contacted no official complaint was lodged and none had been detained.
Verma, while denying any BJP member was among the trouble makers, said the disruption occurred when the discussion to elect/nominate the President of the Mahanagar committee was in progress.
To query about possibility of the involvement of RSS activists as alleged in some quarters, Verma said RSS would never indulge in such activities nor ever interfere in party affairs.
"We have time to elect a Mahanagar committee President till Feburary 25/26 and the party will soon announce a new date for the process," Verma added.
