Japan Maritime self defese force ship concludes kochi visit

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Ship Teruzuki today concluded its three day Kochi visit during which its Commanding Officer called on a top Navy official at the Southern Naval Command.
Captain Masashi Kondo, Commander Escort Division Six is sailing onboard JS Teruzuki, a destroyerwhich is being commanded by Commander Seiichi Hashimoto.
Captain Kondo, accompanied by the Commanding Officer of Japanese Ship Teruzuki had called on Rear Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, the Chief Staff Officer (Training) of Southern Naval Commandon September 09 wherein professional subjects of common interest to both navies were discussed, a Defence release said.
Atsushi Miura, Superintendent Japan Coast Guard and Commanding Officer of Somalia Dispatch Investigation Team, who was also part of the visiting delegation, had called onCommander, Coast Guard district (COMDIS) 04 at District Headquarters No 4, Fort Kochi yesterday, it said.
The visiting JMSDF personnel were given a conducted tour of Anti-submarine Warfare (ASW) School.
In addition, a friendly football match between naval personnel from both navies were also conducted.The crew from the JMSDF Teruzuki also visited places of interest at Fort Kochi, Marine Drive and Museums during their stay at Kochi.

JMSDF ship Teruzuki is on return passage to Japan after having completed her operational anti- piracy deployment along with naval units from Combined Maritime Forces, in Gulf of Aden and North Arabian Sea, the release said.
India traditionally enjoys warm relations with Japan due to shared historical and cultural heritage going back thousands of years.
In the recent past, India-Japan relations have shown an upswing and defence cooperation in particular, has attained a soaring trajectory through increased number of ships, high level delegation visits and training exchanges.
On departure, Passage Exercise 'PASSEX' was held off Kochitoday between Indian NavalShip Sunayna and JMSDF Ship Teruzuki.
