As per the wishes of his parents, the body will be carried back to Nagasaki by them for funeral rites.
A post-mortem after a delay of two days was conducted in the presence of his parents at BHU Post Mortem House here yesterday and the body was handed over to them today, Bhelupur Circle Officer of Police Shalini said.
The body of Imazato Atomu, a native of Nagasaki, was found hanging from a tree in Gangotri Nagar Colony in Samne Ghat area on the Ganga riverbank on March 14.
Prakash said the exact reason for the death will be ascertained only after they receive the post-mortem report, which is likely to be ready by tomorrow.
Officials from Japan Embassy also visited the site, and talked to police about the incident.
They enquired about the entire incident from police and officials of Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) here, sources said.
