After giving the fourth film - "The Bourne Legacy" - a miss, the 44-year-old actor is reprising his role once again and although he's not spilled too many details, he's hinted where the story will be heading, reported New York Daily News.
"Bourne has his memory back, but that doesn't mean he knows everything," Damon said.
"It's 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid. So we have to answer the questions, Where's he been? What's he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie."
"Without giving too much of it away, it's Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world. It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.
