The 38-year-old actor has asked for the forgiveness of his fans and followers for the distasteful comments he made during a Comic-Con panel interaction in 2011, after a clip resurfaced online in wake of allegations of sexual harassment against media mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Momoa, whose character Khal Drogo raped his wife Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in the HBO series, took to Instagram where he posted a apology note saying he is "still severely disappointed in myself at the insensitivity of my remarks that day".
"Rape and sexual harassment can reach anyone and I have seen first-hand its painful torment among members of my own family and friends," the actor wrote.
In the old clip, Momoa is heard saying about his experience of working on "GOT", "But as far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that genre. There's so many things you can do, like rip someone's tongue out of their throat and get away with it... rape a beautiful woman, you know?"
