The "Muppets" star said he came up with the story when he was 21 and sold the plotline for "super cheap" as an aspiring actor, but he recently tracked down the material and bought back the rights, reported Daily Star.
"As I got more successful I kept hoping they (film developers) wouldn't realise I was the same Jason Segel as the Jason Segel they bought the script from (before he became famous)," he said.
Segel is keeping the title of the literary project under wraps for the time being and he is not yet ready to open up about the series.
