Expelled BJP leader Jaswant Singh's son Manvendra Singh, a party MLA, today alleged that an Indian Army unit had acquired his 12 beeghas of 'legally disputed' land in Barmer.
"A case related to the plot of land is pending in the court, but the Army acquired it and put fencing around the 12-beegha plot last night," Manvendra, a BJP MLA from the Shiv Assembly segment in Rajasthan, told reporters here.
When contacted, Defence PRO S D Goswami told PTI that local defence units "are doing collective training in the general area, and as far as the defence land issue is concerned the case is sub-judice, I will not comment on it".
Manvendra's lawyer Dungarsingh Mahecha said the land was purchased by his client in 2012, and then the case was taken to court by both his client and the army.
The army has ignored the court's matter and acquired the land which is an illegal act, and it will be challenged in the court, his lawyer said.
Meanwhile, Barmer District Collector Bhanuprakash Yetru said the court had already passed order to maintain status quo on the land.
