Jat leader's public meet disrupted; vehicles damaged

The chief of a Jat organisation and his supporters were allegedly attacked today by a group of people during a public meeting in Samain village, the police said today.
The president of the All India Jat Aarakshan Samiti Yashpal Malik and his supporters were allegedly attacked during a meeting to invite people in the proposed August 27 rally in Jhajjar, they said.
Hissupporters managed to take him to safety, the police said, adding that his vehicle was also damaged.
The attackers also tried to obstruct videography of the incident bypushing around cameramen and media persons, they said.
Sube Singh Samain, another leader of the Samiti had opposed the public meeting of Malik in his village Samain, but the victim paid no heed to his warning and came to address the people there, the police said.
Reportedly, Singh reached the meeting carrying sticks and allegedly attacked Malik on the stage, they said.

Three Jat leaders Ashok Balhara, Raghubir Gajuwala and sarpanch Om Prakash were also hurt, the police said.
While rushing to a vehicle,Malik told reporters that he had informed police about the possibility of an attack, "but the police did not take any action".
"The situation is tense, but under control," an police official said.
