The protest planned by the All-India Jat Aarakshan Sangarsh Samiti in the city had been called off but Delhi Police had placed barricades on borders and roads in the city.
Traffic jams were also reported on the borders and people took to social media to share their woes. Many people who were taking their children for their entrance exams posted on social media about being stuck in jams.
Massive jams were reported in Lutyens Delhi on all roads owing to security checks by police. There were jams reported on roads leading to Parliament and adjoining radials like Barakhamba Road, Janpath, Sansad Marg, Ashoka Road, Kali Bari, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Lutyens' Zone, and Akbar Road.
Delhi Traffic Police also tweeted in the morning about the likelihood of jams.

"Traffic will remain heavy in New Delhi and adjoining areas due to security picket. Please plan your journey accordingly," the handle tweeted this morning.
"There were traffic jams observed on the borders and commuters travelling from Noida and Gurgaon to Delhi faced issues. But later, we eased the barricading in the capital and there was checking only at the borders.
Later in the day, the traffic was smooth and even in the evening, commuters didn't face major issues on the roads," said a senior traffic police officer.
