Jaundice returns to haunt Jobra locality of Cuttack

Jaundice outbreak has returned to haunt Jobra locality of Cuttack after one year putting the city civic body and the district administration in tenterhooks.
The city had witnessed jaundice outbreak at the same time last year due to broken drinking water pipelines in which over 150 people were afflicted to the disease.
Officials said 17 persons in different localities of Jobra are now suffering from jaundice.
A team comprising ADMO and two staff of the office of the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) has collected blood samples of four patients and water samples from six sources of the locality.
"The report of these samples will be available on Saturday," said a staff of the CDMO office here.
District Collector Nirmal Mishra said steps are being taken at war footing to replace the broken pipelines.
Last year, over 500 water service pipelines in the city were identified to have broken and the district administration claimed that all of them were replaced.
