Javadekar to witness roosting Amur Falcon avians

Union Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar would be arriving in Nagaland tomorrow on a two-day visit to witness the roosting of lakhs of Amur Falcon (migratory birds) at Pangti village in Wokha district.
Nagaland Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Dr Niekiesalie Nicky Kire informed about Javadekar's visit during the inauguration of a Watch Tower constructed by Forest Department and Kigwema Biodiversity Trust (KBT) at Teqweazou, Kigwema village of Kohima district.
Nagaland has been declared the 'Amur Falcon Capital' since 2013 for protecting the migrating birds from different parts of the world.
The Minister said that the Union Minister would be arriving on Sunday and straight away head for Pangti village, some 90 km from the state capital to witness the roosting site of Amur Falcons for the night and following morning.
Nicky, while lauding the Forest Department and KBT for constructing the watch tower at Teqweazou, expressed the hope that it would serve the purpose of conserving the natural flora and fauna of Japfu and Dzukou ranges in Kohima district.
He further encouraged the villagers and people of Nagaland to go for No Objection Certificate, Forest Department so that the forest areas could be selected and declared as a National Biodiversity Areas and Community Conserved Areas.
"Nagas have been living with mountains and forest and therefore we don't bother about its conservation, but the natural greenery are very beautiful and appealing for outsiders," he said.
The Minister also encouraged the youngsters to spearhead awareness on conservation of forest and ecology so that the villagers stop burning of the forest.
