Noted lyricist Javed Akhtar is heading back to writing screenplays and may collaborate with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj on his next film.
The 69-year-old's last work as a screenwriter was son Farhan Akhtar directorial venture 'Don' in 2006, a remake of the 1978 film of the same name which was penned by him and writing partner Salim Khan.
"Javed Akhtar after a fairly long gap is coming back to scriptwriting. He has done a couple of scripts. And they will be announced soon. He is not collaborating with Farhan or Zoya for their movies. He may do a film with Vishal Bhardwaj," a source said.
Akhtar along with Salim Khan formed a formidable scriptwriting duo in the '70s and early '80s.
Some of Akhtar's most successful work was with Salim. Credited as Salim-Javed, they delivered some of the biggest hits in Hindi cinema like 'Zanjeer', 'Deewar', 'Sholay', 'Haathi Mere Saathi', 'Seeta Aur Geeta' and 'Trishul' between 1971 to 1982.
