The 26-year-old Haryana's Rajinder, who had won a gold in the Kerala National Games in February, fell down after making his third throw and apparently hit the ground on his knees. He was rushed to a city hospital here by the organisers and the Indian team management.
Head coach Radhakrishnan Nair said that an X-ray examination on Rajinder's knee will be done tonight and the extent of his injury would be known only tomorrow morning.
"The doctors will have medical tests like X-ray and after that only, the extent of his injury will be known. Then, they will decide whether he will be under plaster or will have to undergo other treatment," he added.
Asked how Rajinder got injured, Nair said, "He fell down after releasing the spear in his third attempt. Initially, we thought there was nothing to be worried but later he could not walk. So, we had to take him to a hospital."
