According to Variety, the "Skyfall" star will join the likes of Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Johnny Depp in the expanded film universe.
The first movie in the series, a reboot of "The Mummy "starring Cruise, Russell Crowe and Annabelle Wallis, is soon to wrap filming.
It is currently unclear whether Bardem will make his debut in the upcoming film or a future movie.
Incidentally, Bardem was apparently lined up to play the role of Dr Jekyll opposite Cruise in "The Mummy", before it went to Crowe.
