Jay-Z is leading the annual Grammy Awards nominations with eight nods in categories such as album of the year, record of the year, song of the year and best rap album.
The 49-year-old artiste is closely followed by Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars at 60th edition of the awards, which were announced today.
Lamar's "DAMN" helped him score seven while Mars won six nods. Childish Gambino (aka actor Donald Glover), newcomers SZA and Khalid, and producer No ID (who worked on Jay-Z's "4:44") earned five each.
Jay-Z, Lamar, Gambino and Mars each have nominations in Album and Record of the Year; Jay and Mars have different tracks nominated for Song of the Year as well, reported Variety.
The Grammys will take place on January 28.
Artistes such as Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift were shut out from the major categories this year.
