Jaya accords sanction for college in RK Nagar

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaaa today accorded administrative sanction of Rs.8.28 crore for the construction of an arts and science college in Dr Radhakrishnan Naagar constituency represented by her in the state Assembly.
For construction of the college buildings, Rs.7.25 crore has been sanctioned.
At a recurring expenditure of Rs.77.07 lakh, 11 teaching and 17 non-teaching positions would be created. Also, paraphernalia including books, computers would be procured at a cost of Rs.26.50 lakh.
Administrative sanction of a total of Rs.8.28 crore had been accorded by Jayalalithaa, an official release said here today.
For the academic year 2015-16, the college would function temporarily from the premises of Chennai Corporation's middle school in Tondiarpet, the release said.
The sanction comes after Chief Minister's announcement in the State Assembly last month that an arts and science college would be set up in RK Nagar.
She had also announced new arts and science colleges in Theni, Erode and Kanyakumari districts.
