Jaya case adjourned to Jan 4 for recording statement

Judge M S Balakrishna adjourned the case to Jan 4 for recording of the statement of Ilavarasi under section 313 CrPC.

Earlier, the third accused and Jayalalithaa's disowned foster son V N Sudhakaran completed the recording of his statement under section 313 CrPC, answering 914 questions framed by the court.

Most of the questions pertained to transfer of money to the partnership firms of his, Jayalalithaa, her close aide Sasikala and Ilavarasi, the latter's relative, and also deposits in their individual accounts.

To many of the questions relating to financial transactions, Sudhakaran's answer was he had no knowledge of it.

The court had last month completed Sasikala's questioning following which Sudhakaran's deposition was taken up.

Jayalalithaa has been charged with amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 66 crore disproportionate to her known sources of income when she was chief minister between 1991 and 1995 and the case had been transferred to the court here by the Supreme Court during her second regime.
