"Satyam played a key role in introducing new techniques in kuchipudi (a dance form) and was instrumental in getting it international recognition. He spent a lot of time in creating kuchipudi artistes," she said in an official statement.
Satyam died of old-age related ailments here yesterday.
She lauded his association with the dance form and recalled the various recognition including the Padma Bhushan and top honours of the governments of Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh bestowed on him.
"Satyam's demise is a big loss to those in the field of dance and none can replace him. We have lost a great artiste," she said and expressed her condolences to the family of the deceased.
