"Though she cannot remain the Chief Minister and cannot contest elections, there is no threat to the government as AIADMK has the majority. But this will have far-reaching implications on Tamil Nadu politics as well as that of the nation," party National Secretary D Raja said here.
Responding to the violence that broke out in some parts of Tamil Nadu, he said there have been "emotional outbursts" to protest the sentencing of Jayalalithaa but it should not create law and order problem in the state.
He said the Chief Minister could take legal steps "which she has taken on earlier occasions too.
